Do you have a problem living in your organization which you are avoiding, ignoring or possibly unaware it is even there? As business leaders, we are often faced with difficult problems that can seem unsolvable or will cost us too much emotionally to tackle. Rod Johnson is the author of, “Without Warning: Breakthrough strategies for solving the silent problems taking aim at your organization”, is my guest this month. Rod helps us to understand, identify and take on silent problems.
Silent problems can appear in many forms such as employee performance issues, partner relationships and family business dynamics. The one thing they all have in common is they can negatively impact the performance of the business. Often a silent problem can cause you to feel stuck with few options for a better outcome.
The good news is it is possible to take on these serious problems and find a solution that moves your organization forward. One thing I know for sure is it takes courage to address a silent problem but, the rewards are there when you do. I have personally been involved in helping business owners in these types of situations and have seen the benefits of doing the hard work. Involving an outside professional is one strategy that can help if you aren’t feeling confident you can handle the issue alone. Overcoming such challenges can create new energy, momentum and reduce stress for everyone who is involved.
